Last year, as you might remember… I photographed four dogs for the cover of the Kentucky Humane Society calendar. I thought it a challenge… mainly because the two little guys were only puppies and, well, you know what they say about the attention span of a puppy!
But I have to admit… I think this year’s shoot was even more challenging. The cover pet is a wonderful, gorgeous blue-eyed cat named KC. KC is one of those cats who loves people, loves attention, and loves being held and petted. But we found one thing KC does NOT love.. the outdoors!
KC had actually never been outside before. Because he is such a calm and laid- back boy, his owner thought he would be fine with the road trip to the outdoor studio. But, KC was *not* fine with it! He was not fine with it at all.
So… that is why all the photographs of KC are taken in the bushes. Most of them involved my actually climbing into the bushes.
But.. at the end of the day… we got some very lovely photographs of this beautiful cat.
And the winner…. the cover for the 2011 calendar is……….
this picture!
So KC brought along a friend and I mean to tell you…. this guy is one of the cutest dogs I have ever photographed.
His name is Sparky… he is bow-legged, floppy eared and really kind of looks like he has not teeth ( he does have teeth but his gums are just oversized or something) So the end result is he looks like he wears a smile all the time!
Anyway, needless to say.. I had to snap a few shots of Sparky. These make me happy:)
