When I arrived at Boomer and Axton’s home- I would have expected to see cute Boomer the hound at the window waiting for me. And he was- tail wagging and ears flopping.
But I don’t normally get an enthusiastic door greeting by the cat. In fact, there have been times when I’ve had to sit quietly in a client’s kitchen or den for a prolonged period of time just to get the cat to come out from under a couch or bed!
Not the case here. Especially not after Axton spotted the camera. She loves a good portrait session- as long as it involves her.
Axton waited impatiently at the window the entire time I was photographing Boomer. And then she began a series of poses for me. I mean, truly, she’s a dream cat for a photographer!
Below is the look she gave me when I tried to make barking noises at her to get her attention. Yeah, right. Like there’s any chance she’s going to fall for that one.
Yep- I’m pretty sure she’s either marveling at the barking idiot in front of her or contemplating how to take over the world. Not sure which.
Boomer is actually a little camera shy- but he warmed up to the idea after a little while.
He was adopted from the Kentucky Humane Society after someone found him wandering along a rural road. Maybe he was a rejected hunting dog- because he is afraid of loud noises. But, I mean, with those ears- who can blame him for being a little sensitive?
He’s a really sweet guy- and he has the gorgeous, soulful eyes that only a hound has!
So it was a GREAT time photographing these two. Sweet Boomer, and Axton- the posing cat. 🙂
